Motherhood & the Performing Arts at Texas Tech

Fall 2024, Safos Founding Artistic Executive Director and working artist mom, Yvonne Montoya, was invited to speak at the International Parenting and Dance Seminar at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

During her talk, she shared the challenges and creativity of choreographing during the pandemic while balancing parenting. The presentation was based on a chapter that she wrote for an upcoming book titled Pandemic Motherhood: Exploring the COVID-19 Pandemic through Engaged and Applied Arts edited by Ali Duffy.

This international seminar was supported by Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and brings together a network of scholars, researchers and industry leaders from around the world to explore the intersection of parenting and dance.
