Dance in the Desert: Latinx Bodies in Movement Beyond Borders
Dancing like a Folklorist is an article about a binational dance exchange that occurred between Arizona-based contemoporary dancers from Yvonne Montoya's Safos Dance Theatre and Agua Prieta, Sonora, México based baile folklorico dancers from Ballet Angeles de Agua Prieta. The dance exchange took place as a part of Yvonne Montoya's 2021 Plain View fellowship.

Dance in the Desert: Latinx Bodies in Movement Beyond Borders is an article examining the data collected from focus group research conducted at the inaugural Dance in the Desert in 2018. Co-authored by Dr. Michelle Téllez and Yvonne Montoya, article examines Dance in the Desert and the belonging of Latinx bodies, voices, and stories in the dance community in Arizona.
The article was published in Latinx Belonging: Community Building and Resistance in the United States edited by Natalia Deeb-Sossa and Jennifer Bickham Mendez by the University of Arizona Press in 2022.

The Traditional and the Contemporary: Embodied Research on the Folk Dances of Northern New Mexico is a compilation of Yvonne Montoya's field notes and preliminary findings on her choreographic and embodied research of the nuevomexicano folk dances of Northern New Mexico.
The article was published in the Revista Música del Sur along with the conference proceedings from the Congreso Internacional Ritmos transatlánticos en músia, canto y baile that took place in Veracruz Mexico in April 2019.
