Mal Aire: A Powerful Evening of Storytelling and Art in Albuquerque, NM
On Friday, October 11th, at the Mal Aire Exhibition in South Broadway Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM. Artistic Director Yvonne Montoya led a special Storytelling Workshop that featured a performance of a monologue from Stories from Home dance Pajarito.
The storytelling workshop and performance was in conversation with the Mal Aire Exhibition and the featured the works of 19 artists reflecting on environmental pollution and its impact on Nuevomexicano bodies and communities.
The evening was powerful as the community shared similar stories and engaged in collective reflection. Attendees had the chance to connect with themes of struggle, resilience, and survival in both the workshop and the exhibition.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this transformative experience, and a special thanks to the Augustine Romero, Dr. Myrriah Gómez, and the artists of Mal Aire for creating such an inspiring space.
